I went jiggling down the road today and it was fantastic. I love to run. That is what 9 months off has made me remember. Fast or slow, hot or cold, easy or painful - I just adore running.
This was a run done while the husband was home for lunch. I thought my obituary might say "death by humidity." But I'm a survivor. I had to run gingerly for the first mile and a half - the legs kind of felt like I'd run a marathon the day before instead of 3 easy miles.
Ahhhh, I've just about kicked the out-of-shape soreness in the tail. The run felt pretty good today. I'm keeping miles very low for the next few weeks to avoid injury at the comeback. I am an old woman and have to think about these things now...sigh.
It sure makes for dull entries, this getting back into shape. I'm still plodding along. It took at least three or four months to even feel slightly speedy again after the last baby. So I'll be patient.
I thought I'd be a little crazy today and run 4 miles. But the husband was on a project all morning so it was me, the TM and my 3 youngest children. After several interuptions for the potty and fixing the movie player I gave up, called three miles good and went back to focusing on the kids.
I had to hustle these miles, an outfit change, and loading the kids in the car for a pre-k eye check-up for my oldest into less than 30 minutes. I try to keep believing that I will have the time to get in shape for a 30k in mid-Oct.
Legs a little tired. Signed up for a 30k in mid-October. Really, really, really hoping I can run that far and that some of the baby gut will be whittled away by then.
